Our experience kicked off with a short manifesto film to set the stage. At the end, a seamless transition would bring the landing page to life: an interactive WebGL globe that allowed users to rotate and find five of the greatest Canon innovations in the works from around the world.
To highlight Canon’s volumetric studio in Japan, we partnered with photographer and skateboard legend Atiba Jefferson to bring back “Love Park” in Philadelphia, one of the birth places of skateboarding. Though the original park was taken apart years ago the MediaMonks team reconstructed the whole area and surroundings in 3D all based on old images and videos, and borough 2 young up and coming skateboarders to a shoot at the volumetric studio so they could virtually skate this iconic destination.
Our second stop is an adventure into the wild. We partnered with National Geographic & Canon Explorer of Light Charles “Chas” Glatzer to show the new top of the line camera features out in the field, in a journey through Yellowstone, searching for wild wolves that haven’t been seen in a long time. As Chas ventured into the woods, each new discovery was an opportunity to show a new camera feature and allow users to participate on the action by finding animals, testing camera controls and taking pictures themselves.
To show how Canon & NASA have been working together for decades on improving space imaging we invited 2 well respected NASA astronauts that have a long history with Canon. They helped us tell the story behind space imagining while introducing Canon’s newest satellites, small and lightweight, with the best image quality yet. Users could look down on earth, take pictures and learn about the satellite.
Next up we have Canon’s AMLOS system that allows for office cameras to be controlled by hand gestures. To demonstrate that technology we created an interactive spy game where users needed to collaborate with agentes and use AMLOS to control the camera and find clues and answers.
The last stop in our journey is a visit to Canon’s innovation lab in Virginia. There, we learned about how Canon has been redefining food prodcution and preservation by developing an aqueous solution made with silk that projects food for longer as well as vertical crops technology using A.I. to identify desases and implement treatments. The experience itself was an interactive timeline that told in detail the history behind these technologies.
